A New South Wales artist, Tom Peerless made two visits to New Zealand in 1884 and 1889. During these travels, he painted predominantly South Island landscape scenes using water-colour. He exhibited New Zealand scenes in the Centennial International Exhibition, Melbourne 1888-89. In New Zealand, he is represented in the AAG and Hocken.
